This is another Embroidery that I made for my friend Mini for her Christmas present. This one took a bit of time, but I was really happy with the way it all came together, especially after I framed it with a white frame!

Business Cards

Hello again!  Here are the business cards that I've printed for myself.  A quick two color gocco job.  Its really true, Gocco does not make color registration easy.  I've learned to work with those limitations, and I feel like the business cards are a great example of that!

Stationary Set

Its been awhile since I've posted anything.  Bad Melissa!  

This is a stationary set that I gocco'd for my friends Chris and Rich.  Originally, I wanted to incorporate their wedding logo, but I decided to create something simpler so that they could use the note cards long after they were done with their wedding.  

I printed the cards and their return address on the envelopes.  Then I lined the envelopes, and made a matching box.  I decided that it would be more fabulous if I included address labels and seals, which also needed to be nicely contained.  I made a little pouch for them that matched the box.  Finally, everything we kept nice and tidy with little obis.  It was a matchy matchy fun project!

I embroidered this piece for two of my dearest friends.  It is their wedding logo.  This was a fun and quick project, and I was really happy with the results.  I can't wait to show you more of my hand made holidays!

Save the Dates

Here are our save the dates that we sent out for our wedding. It was our very first wedding project. They went out in August and the countdown was on. No going back! This first project set the tone for the rest of the wedding prep. Long nights, some bickering, but an end result that we are both proud to call our own.

Lemon Lime Sorbet!

I woke up this morning ready to face the world! After an appointment, some swapmeeting in the hot sun, and enchiladas with the in-laws, I was ready for a nap or some knitting. I'm in the middle of a sweater vest for my husband, so I had to spend some time on that, as well as another crochet project that I'm working on. More to come on those later.

The best thing that I made today was some lemon lime sorbet. We are obsessed with sorbet right now, and since citrus is in season, we've been eating some cold tangy treats! Last week I had a variety of citrus that needed to be eaten. I had heard about a basil-lemon sorbet, and that's what I started making. But then I realized that I didn't have that many lemons, but I did have enough citrus to get enough liquid for the sorbet. It ended up being a blend of pomelo, lemon, lime, tangerine & blood orange mixed in with some peach vodka and limeade soda. The "base" was made from basil infused simple syrup. It was really yummy. Today, I decided to keep it simpler, so I only used lemons and limes (juice and zest), simple syrup, and a splash of triple sec to keep it from freezing too hard. Quite refreshing on an 80 degree January day.

Wedding Teaser!

Part of my motivation (finally) to start this blog today was that the wedding cake toppers that we had made for us were featured on design*sponge. I will have more wedding stuff up this weekend. My hubby found them on etsy at the Goose Grease shop! Oooh how we loved etsy for everything we didn't make ourselves. Soooooooo much to share!

Fairy Happy 6th

I want to begin this adventure sharing what I have been working on. Most of our wedding was DIY, so I have plenty of content, but I want to start off with something else. I will get to wedding stuff soon enough!

Last November, we threw a birthday party for my little step daughter with her mom and step dad. It was an ordeal, being the first joint party, but it was a success. Our team was responsible for the invitations and favors, and I was very pleased with the outcome!

Fairies were the theme, and purple and green seemed to be the right color choice. For the invite, we gocco'd the envelope and the inside card, then attached it to a double sided enclosure card, inspired by butterflies, leaves, and fairies. My hubby wrote the text for the invite and I created all the artwork. It was finished with a sprinkling of fairy dust and it was ready to go out in a few hours! Very fun project!

The next part of our contribution was the favors. To continue the theme, everyone got a magical wand. The little girls got fairy wands and wings, and the little boys got elfin wands and ears. The wands were super fun to make and I had such a great time wandering around the craft store putting it all together. It is one of those projects that looked just how I saw it in my head!

Hello!

I have big plans for my blog, just as I'm sure most people do.  I do not want to bite off more than I can chew, so I am starting small, with attainable goals.  Just sharing stuff that I have been making at work and at home, for money and for pleasure.  I am trying to find a way to combine work and pleasure.  I want to be happy every day and do what I love.  How to make that happen has occupied most of my thoughts, but not much of my time.  It has been confusing and just getting focused on what I really want has been a big step.  I married the most wonderful man last fall and things are starting to be clearer for me.  I know how I want to live my life.  Now I have to reconcile that with the real world (taxes, rent, insurance, food).  I know it is possible.  

Today I have finally dedicated time to that goal in the form of this post.  Oh, in the next post too.
